Lorraine passed peacefully at the MUHC Royal Victoria Hospital on November 13, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.
Pre-deceased by her parents, Thelma Yep and Yvon Doré. Lorraine (Lori to many friends and family) leaves to mourn her brother Marc (Susan) of Montreal West and brother Bobby(Mary Kay) of Breckenridge, Colorado. Her niece Kate and nephews Matthew and Evan will miss their Auntie Lori deeply. Also mourning her loss are her friends and past colleagues along with many aunts, uncles and cousins, whom she loved and whose company she cherished.
Lori grew up in St. Eustache, attending Lake of Two Mountains High School. Nursing was her vocation and upon graduation from Dawson College Nursing, Lori went to work immediately at the Royal Vic. Working with AIDS and cancer patients throughout the 1980s and 1990s on the 10 Medical Floor and at the Montreal Chest Hospital and following that, the ER, Lori’s devotion to her profession and providing care to patients is what really drove her.
Lori offered advice on health and lifestyle to her family, these recommendations were given and accepted in good humour. Self-help and improvement books were often given as gifts and we loved her homemade tourtieres at Christmas.
Lori was very proud of the family’s Chinese lineage, always keeping it present in our lives, making special trips to Chinatown to source out her favourite foods and special gifts. The Yep family had a big place in her heart. She loved her weekends and time at Lac Cameron, gardening and crafting. Lori was a fine skier and water-skier, she loved the outdoors and taking walks with her beloved Nikki. They are now reunited.
Special thanks to the nurses and doctors at the Vic in the ER, the 8th floor and particularly the 10th floor, where they treated her with great care, even playing some Beatles music as Lori slipped away.
The family is planning a memorial service at a later date, in Spring 2026.
In Lori’s honour and memory, please consider a donation to the Cedars Cancer Foundation or the Dawson College Foundation.
