KING, Melissa Anne

Melissa Anne King passed away unexpectedly on October 12, 2023, at 43 years of age.


Known as Missy, she was born in Lewisburg, Pa., and spent her early years in the greater Baltimore area, attending Towson High School. Moving to Quebec, Canada, in 2006, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology from McGill University in 2014, following her years as a full-time homemaker and mother to three children.

While a student at McGill, Missy also served as a student researcher, and was a member of the Society for Historical Archaeology and the Gold Key Honor Society. Her archaeology interests centered on southern New Jersey, where her ancestors had lived for generations. A lifelong learner, Missy was often in scholarly pursuit of knowledge and generously shared her findings with family and friends.

Missy’s volunteer activities in Canada included caregiver at Beau-Sejour Residence for the Elderly in Lachute, and volunteer at La Grande Guignolée in Blainville, Quebec.

She had a deep appreciation of nature, and a sense of awe and wonder for the naturel world and spent many happy hours enjoying her woodland walks. Out of a plot of grass in her backyard, she created a garden sanctuary highlighting its natural beauty with lush flower beds, lights, and statuary.

Missy made her house welcoming and warm and expressed her love of art with paintings, sculptures, and her children’s artwork.


Missy is survived by her three amazing and talented children: Constantin Brouillard, Anabel Brouillard, and Edmond Brouillard, whom she adored. Survivors also include her former husband Patrick Brouillard, her mother Edwina Ruthig King, her father Roland King Jr., and her stepmother Judith Phair King; two siblings Elizabeth (King) Middleton and Roland King III; as well as four aunts: Anne Ruthig Way, Laura Lee Ruthig, Jane Ruthig, and Diane King Randolph.


The family will receive condolences on Saturday October 28th 2023, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at:
