DA SIE née VAN DE MOSSELAER, Maria

Maria Da Sie (nee van de Mosselaer) passed away at age 90, peacefully on January 2, 2023 at the Sunrise Residence in Beaconsfield Quebec. Born in Niel, Belgium in 1932, her family emigrated to Canada when she was 17. Maria is predeceased by her loving husband Angelo, with whom she spent 63 years together at their home in Rosemere, Quebec. She was the very proud mother to her four children: William (Brenda), Susan (Denis), Jan (Margo) and Irma (Stephen); grandmother to Christopher, Kaitlyn, Robyn, Sonja, Sara, Maria, Nicholas, Lia and Laura; and great-grandmother to Declan, Finnley and Ines. Maria is also predeceased by her parents Irma (Maximus) and Theophile van de Mosselaer and her brother Henri.

Maria and Angelo, our Mom and Dad, enjoyed a storybook marriage, always happiest in each other's company. She had a passion for travel which took her to Italy, France, Greece, Egypt, and the Caribbean.

Mom was the guiding light and chief organizer of so many family gatherings. Their Rosemere residence became a second home to the grandchildren where we were all fortunate to enjoy countless summer days.

More than anything, Mom was proud to celebrate the successes of her children. She was a constant presence and motivator as we grew, supporting us at every opportunity and making sure we understood what could be achieved with effort and responsibility. She was especially proud that all her children graduated from McGill University, achieving success in their academic pursuits and later in their respective careers.

We would like to thank all the nurses and caregivers at the Sunrise Residence for their tremendous warmth and care shown towards our mother.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Résidences Funéraires Goyer, at 105 Boul. Desjardins Est, Ste-Thérèse, Quebec, on Friday January 6th at 3:00 pm.
