With tremendous courage and dignity, Gilles Du Paul passed away on June 19, 2019 at the age of 88 after a short illness and a long, brave and valiant battle with Parkinson`s disease; which he fought with fortitude and never once complained.
He is predeceased by his parents Auray and Antonia Du Paul (née Bachand), siblings Lise, Gérard and Suzanne.
Gilles was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juliette (Matte), adoring daughters Claudine and Danielle (Lloyd Stewart), cherished grandchildren Doran, Robin and Joseph; sister Pauline and brothers Gaston (Hughette), and Guy (Thérèse). He will be greatly missed by all of his family including his brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews
Gilles proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCAF) with honour and distinction for 34 years; which included postings to Quebec, Ontario, England, California and with the UN Peacekeeping forces in Egypt. After retiring from the forces, Gilles continued working until full retirement in 1985.
Gilles loved sports, played hockey in his youth, served as swimming instructor and lifeguard while in the forces and enjoyed Expos games at the Olympic Stadium.
A man of deep faith and a true gentleman who conducted his life with great humility, integrity and love. He had a compassionate and giving spirit, volunteering with the church, meals on wheels and was always willing to help family, friends and neighbours whenever he could.
A kind-hearted and good- humoured man, Gilles was well-respected by family, friends and colleagues.
The family sincerely thanks the doctors and all the staff at CHSLD Drapeau-Deschambeault for their kind and compassionate care of Gilles during his last years in residence.

A celebration of his life will be held at Sainte-Thérèse d’Avila church (10 de l’église street, Sainte-Thérèse) Tuesday june 25th at 11, followed by burial at Le repos Saint-François d`Assise in Montréal.
As you wish, sympathies can be expressed by flowers or donations can be made in Gilles`s memory to Parkinson Quebec or a deserving charity of your choice.
